The Answer
With support from Gentleman’s Pistols
Date: 15/10/2011
Venue: Sheffield o2 Academy 2
After the release of their debut album The Answer are slowly but surely building up a core fanbase. The Northern Ireland based band have gained many fans from previous shows with legendary rock acts Ac Dc, Whitesnake & Aerosmith.
Being the only support band on the bill tonight it’s really up to Gentleman’s Pistols to get the crowd ready. Despite a troubled start to the set, suffering technical problems with the guitar amps. With all their sound issues aside the set was short but full of hard rocking songs. There is still a long way to go before this band gets to where tonights headliners are but the ground work is already in place so I expect plenty more to come.
After relatively small success The Answer have managed to pack out this venue in support of their latest album release Revival. Taking to the stage with crowd favourite Under The Sky the venue is now well and truly in full swing. Working their way through a combination of new and old songs the crowd seemed to take to them well, despite the album only being out a couple of weeks. Cormac Neeson is unlike many 21st Century rock frontmen in the sense that he is modest and lets his performance do the talking as tonight shows. Having seen The Answer way back in 2009 in an Arena sized venue it was great to see them rocking in such a small and intimate venue. Songs like Why’d You Change Your Mind & One More Revival soon followed before coming back on for an encore with there own rendition of Rose Tattoo song, Rock ‘N’ Roll Outlaw before then bursting into the anthemic Waste Your Tears.
Despite having 3 solid albums The Answer are still yet to really make it as a headline act but their show is full of hard rocking songs. To their credit they still manage to draw in an older generation of music fans and if they continue all the hard work it surely wont be long before they headline bigger venues. Whats also great to see is that the classic rock music scene is still going strong with fresh bands continuing to come through the ranks.
