Artist: Evanescence
Album: Evanescence

It’s been that long since Evanescence have done anything over here that people might actually question if they are actually even relevant anymore. It’s been five years since their last album The Open Door was released and not to mention a UK tour that was cancelled so this release has been a long time coming.

So I suppose the question everyone will be asking is it worth the wait? Well i’m split straight down the middle, it’s not got the mainstream hits of debut release Fallen but its not quite The Open Door either. The First single and the album opener What You Want start with a thunderous pounding of the drum accompanied with Amy Lee’s vocals bringing together a song which will be a hit with the fans.

There’s no denying that Evanescence has always been about Amy Lee’s vocals. Although that hasn’t really changed their does seem to be more of a change in the style of songs that are being written with many songs incorporating more riffs than ever before.

After revealing recently that they scraped a whole albums worth of material just because they were not ready for the recording and felt they could do better is a bold move for any band. After doing that you would maybe expect a lot more from them but for the fans who have sat patiently waiting they will be pleased with the album. It is by no means a bad album but its still lacking that spark that made Fallen such a massive success.

Evanescence are set to play the UK with The Pretty Recklass on the following dates:

7th November – o2 Apollo, Manchester
8th November – o2 Academy, Glasgow
10th November – Pavilions, Plymouth
12th November – o2 Academy, Leeds
13th November – o2 Academy, Birmingham
