Having been an avid Exit Ten supporter for around 5 years now, I obviously jumped at the chance to have a little chat with the band. Although we couldn’t catch them in person before the new year, they kindly answered a few questions via email.
So, first off – Who are we talking to and how’s it going?
Its Chris (Drums) here, and its going pretty well!
How are you preparing for the upcoming tour?
We’ll be hoping to take some momentum off the back of the last tour into this one. We’re really happy with the set and the reactions of the crowd so we’re hoping for more of the same!
Will the tour vary much from previous shows?
There’s always something unique every night. Ryan is a special frontman and he likes to engage the audience every time. The set will likely be the same as it feels pretty good but there’s always something new.
Which city are you most looking forward to playing?
We have great shows in Bristol and on the south coast so those ones should be fun.”
What home comforts do you miss whilst you’re on the road?
Games consoles mostly and to a degree being in control of eating well. On the road a nice healthy meal can be a luxury.
We hope to be attending your upcoming Bristol show. What can we expect?
Expect a lot of energy and a lot of singing! Our favourite thing is to have an audience in good voice so we hope to get it!
How has the reaction been to the new album ‘Give Me Infinity’?
Its been great, people really seem to have ‘got it’ which is fantastic for us. I think most people have excepted that things might have moved on a little since the last one just mainly due to the time that elapsed but they’ve jumped right on board.”
Are any of the songs harder to play live? (Emotionally or technically?)
They are less technical which helps free us up to be able to perform them better I think. The songs give Ryan more room to operate and we as a band can change the mood of the set here and there. Its a lot of fun.
Do you prefer to play new material over your older tracks?
New material is always fun as its fresh and playing them live for the first time is a fun challenge too. But at the same time its nice to come back to those established tracks at certain points and really go for it.
How will you be spending Christmas day?
Family affair. Its gonna be nice and chilled with lots of food. Perfect.
What do you hope 2012 brings that 2011 didn’t?
2011 has worked out well so just more of the same, we’re just getting started!
What was the last song you listened to?
Ghost Of Perdition by Opeth.
Last but not least:
If you were a parrot, what would be the first thing you’d learn to say?
Someone help me, I’ve turned into a Parrot.
